Green Eggs and Ham Visits the Church

I was talking with someone on the phone this morning about a situation in his church where a group of people are "stonewalling"  or holding up progress in the church because they do not want to proceed any further because they do not like the direction that the rest of the church is trying to go. Those throwing up the roadblocks are doing so because someone else who is not even in that church is telling them that they do not want to move that way, that they will not like it and will be sorry. Based on this persons word, they refuse to move.  I told the person that I was talking with that it reminded me of the classic Seuss book, "Green Eggs and Ham."  Here is a group of people who are stubbornly refusing to budge... based on what? Someone else's word...who, by the way, have never tried the very thing this church is trying to do. So basically you have someone who has decided that they "do not like green eggs and ham" and they are telling others that they won't like them either. Meanwhile, the progress of the church and the work of the Kingdom comes to a screeching halt because someone with an unknown problem is screaming, "I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM!"  How sad is it that a voice from outside is telling those within what they will and will not like. Truly sad indeed.
