Today I want to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving today, and I pray that each one of us consider just how blessed we really are. They say that the poorest people in the United States are in the top 15% of the wealthiest in the world. If your family earns $10,000 per year, you are wealthier than 84% of the world. Be thankful you live in this great nation. If you have had anything to eat at all today, then you've got a reason to be thankful. If you have shoes on your feet or a shirt on your back, be thankful. Be thankful for clean water to drink and shower in. Be thankful that rockets are not exploding next to your house today. We are blessed to live in America.
Be thankful you are free to worship, or not to worship as you choose without fear of someone beheading you or killing you on the streets and dragging your body through the streets because of your beliefs. In many countries, you don't have the freedom to decide you don't believe in God. Keep that in mind when you rail against those of us who do believe. For those of you in America who scream at and hate those of us who practice our Christianity, be thankful you don't live in an Islamic state where they would kill you for speaking out against Islam the way you do again my faith. We are blessed to live in America.
To my friends who are gay and become enraged that you don't have the right to marry... be thankful you are not in the Middle East where they would stone you or behead you for your lifestyle. Maybe it's not as bad as you think it is here in America. Sometimes a little perspective helps adjust our attitude.
It's Thanksgiving Day... a day for giving thanks to God for our abundant blessings. Don't believe in God? Well, be thankful that you have that right, but don't begrudge those of us who do believe in and worship God.
We are a blessed people here in the United States. It's high time we remember that.
There is so much that I have to be thankful for, not only today, but everyday that I wake up with breath in my lungs, a roof over my head, friends and family to love... and I could go on and on for hours, but suffice it to say today, "Thank you Lord... You've been SO good to me!"
