Just What is the Rush?

This year everyone is screaming about how Huckabee needs to drop out "for the good of the party" and the buzz with the Democrats is how unsettling it is to not have a nominee by now. I was thinking about this a little while ago and I got to thinking about the presidential contests of my youth. Suddenly it hit me... Bobby Kennedy was killed in June. I looked it up to verify it, since I was only 9 at the time, but sure enough, the California primary was June 4 in 1968. At the time of his death, there really was no clear front-runner, although Humphrey was leading.

Without going deeper into the history lesson, I have to wonder, why is it so "vital" that we have a clear nominee this early? It seems ludicrous to me to think that we must rush through such an important decision. We have plenty of time. And no, I am not just saying this because I support Huckabee. I simply think that we have allowed the media and a select few people tell us how we must think. I tend to think we can stop, take a breath and think before we cast our vote for the most powerful person on the face of the earth.

I get sick and tired of the media telling me how to think, how to vote! We ALL should think for ourselves and vote our convictions! Sadly, many cults have grown over the years because people just don't WANT to think for themselves. It takes too much effort.
