Time For A Good Cup Of Coffee!

Ever since I was just a young boy, I have loved the taste and smell of coffee. My mom would let me have small amounts of hers when I was about 4 years old. But she always told me, "Just a little bit. Coffee will stunt your growth." That phrase seemed to follow me all my life. People would see me as a teenager drinking coffee and they'd say, "You drink coffee? It will stunt your growth." (Funny, now days I wish it would stunt my growth. Not my height... just around my middle!)
I know I am not alone in this. Over the years, people have always told me that coffee was no good for me, that it weakened the immune system, that it did this or did that, and I needed to stop drinking it.

Back in the day, my good friends in prison told me that I drank to much coffee and I was addicted to caffiene. They challenged me to stop, and I did so, and I found that I was addicted. I actually had withdrawls from caffiene. For awhile I was without caffiene... but then one day I smelled a fresh pot brewing (keep that instant stuff away from me!) and I was pulled back in. However, I never went back to drinking near the amount of coffee as I did back in those days. Back then I was drinking 15- 20 cups a day... or more. Now I seldom have more than 4 to 6 cups a day. I can hear some of you now... "That's too much coffee... it's bad for you!"

Hold the pressess!

Have you heard the lastest news releases on coffee drinking?
My wife say this in a newspaper the other day and showed it to me. I looked it on the net today and here is the beginning of the article found at web MD.com.

"Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?

If it sounds too good to be true, think again.

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better."

So fellow coffee drinkers, celebrate with me our good sense that we have displayed over the years as we drank from the cup that prolongs our life!

Pour yourself a good strong cup of java and read the rest of the article here.

Okay, enough with the CAFFEINE already.

I gave it up on December 30, 2005, and haven't touched it since.

When are you coming to CHItown for a visit, anyway?

I'll take you to Starbucks...I promise!

You know, there is that nice little place in your city, the one that sells its own brand of Coffee, it's not Starbucks, but it's close! I'm down to one cup per day, maybe two if I didn't sleep well, and no caffine after six in the evening...I love coffee but am trying to lose weight and get my blood pressure down, I've lost almost 20 pounds and gotten my numbers down a few points...so when you're half way through the pot you're drinking think of me!
