I know ministers and their families who are OK with their children reading and watching Harry Potter. It has been argued that it's only fiction, a fantasy story. If we are to be Christ like.. I can't possibly imagine Jesus being entertained by such things... and I can't imagine him stepping aside while things like this changing of the lyrics go on either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8592262.post-1134676829980122682005-12-15T14:00:00.000-06:002005-12-15T14:00:00.000-06:00We don't praise Him because we are not in awe of H...We don't praise Him because we are not in awe of Him anymore. We are self sufficient, we do not need him anymore.

"...I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing..."

But what does God think...

"... and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:..."

and what does he say to do...

"I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see."
Rev 3:17-18

We have taken our forgiveness from God without repenting. We are not thankful so why should we praise Him?

"What have you done for me lately, God?"

Ray Comfort says in best:

----
Perhaps much of the Church needs to consider dropping "Onward Christian Soldiers" and replacing it with something more appropriate:

Backward Christian soldiers, fleeing from the fight
With the Cross of Jesus nearly out of sight.
Christ our rightful master, stands against the foe
But forward into battle, we are loathe to go.
Like a might tortoise moves the Church of God
Brothers we are treading where we've always trod.
We are much divided, many bodies we
Having many doctrines, not much charity.
Crowns and thorns may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus hidden does remain.
Gates of Hell should never 'gainst the Church prevail
We have Christ's own promise, but think that it will fail.
Sit here then ye people, join our useless throng
Blend with ours your voices in a feeble song
Blessings, ease and comfort, ask from Christ the King
With our modern thinking, we don't do a thing.

(Anonymous)
-----

We need any encounter with God like Isaiah had:

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, [which] he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
And he laid [it] upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here [am] I; send me.
Isa 6:1-8

When we fear God more than man, we will step out of our comfort zone.Sean McKeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06593743564639637335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8592262.post-1134672556327631502005-12-15T12:49:00.000-06:002005-12-15T12:49:00.000-06:00Pasor As I was reading this , I was my heart was ...Pasor
As I was reading this , I was my heart was sadend, but it also made me realize that we ,as christians have let the enemy blind us , not only to the things going on around us , but spiritualy,we have gotten so comfortable in our own little zones that we are afraid to step out. Some dont even worship or praise him like like should, WHY???
I dont understand, HES GOD, HES JESUS , I want to praise him every chance i can . God has also put a zeal within my spirit to GO out anywhere I can to tell people about him , and also to speak his word to them, I dont understand why ALL christians dont feel the same. Your right we the church(HIS BODY) need to slap ourselves and wake ourselves up & fight for our rights , and for our Father.

AmyAmyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06807376455373906177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8592262.post-1134666919590897712005-12-15T11:15:00.000-06:002005-12-15T11:15:00.000-06:00I have not heard that Sean. I just listened to the Churchill choir sing at the mall and they sang some very religious songs, so I doubt that is true.Darrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12579856923781645517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8592262.post-1134665963525329232005-12-15T10:59:00.000-06:002005-12-15T10:59:00.000-06:00Am I mis-informed or did the Galesburg school dist...Am I mis-informed or did the Galesburg school district 'outlaw' saying Merry Christmas?Sean McKeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06593743564639637335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8592262.post-1134663057060141682005-12-15T10:10:00.000-06:002005-12-15T10:10:00.000-06:00Amen!!! Safe with my family out of the storm!" I know we need to be aware of the less fortunate, but this doesn't sound like a very cheery "Holiday" song to me!!

I'm proud of those kids and their parents for standing up for what is right.Libbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06452689115839841493noreply@blogger.com
